What we do
Heart conditions are devastating our communities, and New Zealand’s strained healthcare system is failing to keep up. We’re taking action.
We advocate for change
We call upon the government to use their power to make critical changes in our healthcare system:
Dedicated cardiac budget for medicines and interventions to ensure high-quality treatment
Dedicated cardiac beds to reduce wait times for life-saving care
Dedicated investment in our cardiac staff and the resources to support them
We amplify the voices of patients and healthcare workers
We share powerful stories from patients who have faced unacceptable delays, and from cardiologists working under pressure.
Stories like Māhina’s, a mum battling stage three breast cancer who needed an essential heart scan, but was told she’d have to wait ten months - at the earliest - for an appointment.
We equip communities with life-saving technology
Too many whānau lack access to basic heart checks. We’re closing that gap by placing mobile heart monitors (ECGs) into the hands of GPs and community clinics, so dangerous heart conditions can be detected early - potentially preventing heart failure.
We’ve already shipped 30 mobile ECGs across Aotearoa, and your donation can help deliver more to communities in need.
We collaborate with cardiology experts
In 2024, we established a Cardiology Advisory Board – a group of passionate and dedicated leading cardiologists from around the country – to guide our advocacy and research.
To ensure our advocacy is built on evidence, we developed our Cardiac Impact Report. This is Aotearoa’s first nationwide analysis of cardiac health, providing the crucial data needed to shape future funding, policy, and services.
